The Dragons of Inaction candle is inspired by Professor Robert Gifford’s groundbreaking work on the psychological barriers that often prevent us from taking necessary actions. These barriers, or “dragons,” include feelings of overwhelm, uncertainty, and various other reasons why we might hesitate to act, even when we know we should.
Gifford categorizes these dragons into seven key areas: Limited Cognition, Ideologies, Social Comparisons, Sunk Costs, Discredence, Perceived Risks, and Limited Behavior. Each one represents a different challenge that can slow our progress. The Dragons of Inaction candle serves as a physical reminder to confront these obstacles and push through them.
